Just 24 hours after realizing her dream by winning the Digicel Rising Stars 2011 competition; Chantal “Tash” Lamont is counting her blessings today after robbers attempted to break into her home.

The Yallahs, St. Thomas native was at her home on Monday night when a pair of bandits tried to invade her home after loitering on a neighbor’s backyard. Noticing the suspicious movements of the two men, citizens alertly called the police who rushed to her rescue.

When the police arrived, the two thieves ran off in opposite directions before law enforcement could grab hold of them. Tash was unhurt in the incident, but is convinced that this attempted robbery was carried out by persons who wished for her not to succeed during the Rising Stars competition. “I am scared and terrified. I hear some people saying in the streets that I should not have won the competition. Some people just a badmind me,” Tash told the Jamaica STAR.
