Internationally acclaimed Dancehall superstar, Adidja “Vybz Kartel” Palmer has spoken in-depth about his reality series, Teacha’s Pet; premiering Friday night at 10PM on CVM TV.

The self-proclaimed “Dancehall Hero” missed the launch of his show on Tuesday at the LIME Headquarters in Kingston due to “legitimate medical reasons. However, Kartel gave an interview with the Jamaica STAR; explaining why he decided to do such a show, how he’s connected with the girls in the completion amongst other matters.

Kartel explained that his desire to find his soul mate drove him to creating Teacha’s Pet. “The idea came from me wanting to find a mate and have the world watch the day-to-day activities in my quest to find a potential “Mr.’s Palmer.” I approached Carleene Samuels and Jason Williams to see if they could bring my dream to reality and voila,” Kartel said. Additionally, the “Worl’ Boss” claimed that this new reality show re-affirms his status as an international superstar; becoming the first active Jamaican artiste to put out a reality show. “Di Worl’ Boss never does what “most” people do. I always bring something indigenous to whatever I’m doing and being the first Jamaican artiste to do this type of show makes me even more indigenous and makes my career even more “active.”

As for the prospects of the Teacha’s Pet contestants, Kartel revealed that though he has yet to choose his “pet,” he’s manage to establish a strong bond with many of the 20 girls (10 local,10 international) who are contesting to win his heart; hinting some of them have long-term relationship potential. “I have connected with a lot of the girls on the show and I hope to narrow it down to one “Mrs. Right”. The show is genuine and I must say that. The fact that it is being shown on TV doesn’t take away from the sincerity of my actions.” “Di Teacha” also insisted that he does not have a “steady woman” in his life & even implied that marriage is something he’s seriously considering. “It is very important. It is fundamental and I definitely want to be married in the future.”

However, Kartel did say that should he not find the girlfriend he is looking for, there will be a second season of the new reality series. “If I don’t find what I’m looking for, definitely,” Kartel hinted.

Teacha’s Pet will also feature former TV host, Amelia “Milk” Sewell as his “Substitute Teacha’s Pet,” & Kartel’s long-time protégé, Popcaan who will issue challenges & help Kartel make the decision regarding which girl will become “Di Teacha’s” new girl. Meanwhile, LIME TV will be airing “Too Hot for TV” clips of Kartel’s reality show every Friday night at 11pm; following its original airing on CVM TV an hour previous.
