Ras J born Davion Wellington was born on June 1, 1989 in St.  Ann’s Bay.  He grew up with 9 sisters and three brothers in a small community called Prickley Pole in St. Ann.

Ras J attended the Aabuthnott Galimore High School where his love for music developed.

Music has always been in Ras J’s family as he is cousin with Perfect one of Jamaica’s talented Artist.

Ras J began his music career at the age of 15 while attending High School.

During this time he has worked with a number of people trying to get his talent recognized. Some of these persons included Mark from Mbase Production and Bass Odyssey Sound, Quame a small engineer from Claremont and Ras Vocal from Prickley Pole.  He has also done a couple of projects with Zagga, Dario Currently Ras J is working with Billy West and Hanif Chito of Mad Media House Entertainment.  He has recorded a number of tracks such as Them a Pree, Jah by my side, Love you, Heart nuh Clean, Lion in the jungle  and a combination with Jahfro out of Germany Titled  My Life.
